Where the Wild Things Don't Care
I've seen the trailers and the TV spots, I've had people explain it to me, I've listened to the first single from the soundtrack, but I still don't see why everybody is making such a big deal over Where the Wild Things Are.
Am I missing something? Last weekend I reread the book: kid gets in trouble for biting his mom, mom sends kid to his room with no dinner, kid goes to Imagination Land, kid gets hungry, kid leaves Imagination Land, finds soup sitting near his bed. The End.
And I never even liked that book. I'd rather see either of these turn into a movie:

Stephen Toulmin is on my shit list
I think he's only considered an intellectual and an expert in his field because other rhetoricians don't want to admit that they have no idea what he's saying. Here's a quote from Toulmin's The Uses of Argument.
"What things about the modes in which we assess arguments, the standards with reference to which we assess them and the manner in which we qualify our conclusions about them, are the same regardless of field (field-invariant), and which of them vary as we move from argument in one field to argument in another field (field-dependent)?"
Sir, I have no fucking clue.
